60 Seconds With Shiko

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

A fire fighter. My father was one. He had these cool photos of himself and colleagues fighting important fires. That wish only lasted a fleeting second. Ok, a few. Then I wanted to be a teacher. A primary school teacher no less. My mother was one all her working life and the respect that she, the rest of the teaching fraternity, and their families were accorded was almost tangible. They positively molded young lives and thats the epitome of cool if you ask me.

Whats the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

What’s your worst regret in life? It’s probably too early in life to start scanning for regrets. No I’m not 12. I’m not even 22. But let me make a few more mistakes and look at the regrets later. By which time I’ll have learned through life experience that regrets are not the way to go.

Who is your role model? Mother. You saw that coming didn’t you? It also helps that I’m a spitting image of her. I like!
